UKIRT STANDARDS

- Revised list MMC 3/3/92

The magnitudes in this list have been revised following 1990/91 UKT9 photometry. Asterisks refer to the most frequently re-observed stars. The results define the UKIRT/UKT9 natural photometric system. The K zeropoint is defined as identical to that of the CIT (Elias) system for A0 stars. Transformations to CIT are given in the appendix.

           TRANSFORMATION RULES FROM UKIRT (UKT9) TO CIT (Caltech)

   The CIT system is taken as that defined by Elias et al (1982, A.J.
87,1029). The UKIRT system is that defined by the UKIRT standards list,
observed by UKT9.

   Transformation equations are

         Kcit = Kukirt - 0.018*(J-K)
   ( J-K )cit = 0.936 * ( J-K )ukirt
   ( H-K )cit = 0.960 * ( H-K )ukirt
   ( J-H )cit = 0.920 * ( J-H )ukirt
   ( K-L )cit = 0.820 * ( K-L )ukirt

   Although IRCAM has a different filter set to that of UKT9, no
significant systematic differences have been found between IRCAM photometry
and the UKIRT system out to a J-K colour of ~ 1 (Longmore, Priv. Comm). So
IRCAM can be considered to be on the UKIRT system for this colour range.
