Upgrade requests for NOTCam
Comments to Anlaug Amanda Kaas
- Clean-array command wanted. Should consist of purely reading the array
3-5 times (TBD whether 3 is sufficient) with no-autosave and no-autoshow in
order to save overhead time.
- Saving options wanted. Want to be able to exclude the reset frame
from being stored. For the mexp exposure mode it should be possible
to select which of the N readouts to be saved, possibly only the
final average image, and it should be possible to select which of the N
readouts to be included in the average image.
- For the frame command we also want different saving options. The
user should be able to select which of the readouts to save, if not all of
them. (All must be used in the calculation of linear regression though.)
- Imexamin in BIAS calculates the FWHM in pixels. Because there is no
communication between BIAS and NOTCam wheel status, the seeing can not
be given in arc seconds unless knowing which camera is in use. Work around
solution: calculate the seeing in arc seconds for both cameras, and
display both WF seeing and HR seeing.
- Have the ability to individually initialise separate mechanisms.
DONE!
- For the exp and the mexp commands, let BIAS store the
reset-subtracted end-of-exposure frame as the first image in the cube,
and the reset frame as the second. Now it stores the reset frame as the
first, and the simple end-of-exposure frame as the last. The suggested
modification will make it possible to display the actual image, and probably
imexamin under BIAS will work. DONE!
- For the frame command, let BIAS store the linear regression
result as the first frame in the cube. Same reason as above. Now it is the
last. Keep the reset frame stored in the last position. Store the individual
non-destructive read-outs as reset-subtracted images.
DONE!
- The mexp t N command makes a summed image of all the N
reset subtracted images. Make instead an average, otherwise the display
goes crazy with the wrap around effect. DONE!
- Imexamin under BIAS frequently crashes or gives strange values.
Currently we have to use the POSTPROCESSING ON option in BIAS in orer to use
imexamin, which slows down image aquisition. Also, we have to store all the
focus acquisition frames and other crap test frames. DONE!
- Removable vacuum jacketed extensions to the LN2 fill and vent tubes
to limit spilling of LN2, and especially to prevent spilling into the
controller box. NB! This is high priority!
- When BIAS displays a newly acquired image in SAOimage the cuts values
are always wrong (probably because they are obtained by finding the histogram
of the reset frame?). FIXED!
- Can data acquisition be speeded up by not letting BIAS display the
reset frame? DONE!
- Improve the information to the FITS headers. Neither array temperature,
LN2 temperature, pressure, shutter status, etc. are correct values. Missing
KEYWORD: observer. DONE!
- Let the macro "volt" be run automatically upon BIAS start up.
DONE!
- Generate the correct filename automatically. DONE!
- Change "CCD" to "IR array" everywhere in the displayed windows. Also in
the window headers.
