A significant amount of time is being spend on maintaining the cooling system of the telescope and building. A plan is being considered to replace the current system with a more efficient, higher capacity system which would reduce the maintenance and running cost. However, such areplacement will be a major investment, though no proper cost estimate has been received yet from the companies that were approached.
