As noted in Sect. 2 the most serious problem in semester 28 was the problem with the FAPOL retarder plate. A lot of observing time was lost because the system does not detect if the rotator actually works. We are currently in contact with CUO to modify the control card such that it checks its position every time in has made a full turn. A similar system exists for the wheels in ALFOSC, and this should be a relatively simple modification.
