It was decided that the NOT will take over management of the FIES project. This includes responsibility for the software, getting the lenses and mirrors (re-)coated, etc. We will remain partly relying on support and effort from Aarhus which is also specifically mentioned by them, but it is not clear how that part can be managed by us as we do not have a direct say in how and when they supply their resources.
There has been a meeting on La Palma with Soeren Frandsen in which the project was discussed. Specifically the design of the fibers adapter plus calibration unit was discussed. Also, arrangements were made for the further development of the control software.
Aarhus has supplied a list of the different items Aarhus is getting offers for ((re)coating of various optical elements, fibers, etc.). This includes estimated prices, but not delivery times which makes it hard to define a proper time line for the project, but it seems clear that not all of the different components will be ready before next Spring. The AiC with visit Aarhus shortly before the STC and Council meetings to discuss this.
