Temperature Monitoring System

A new temperature sensing control unit was installed that is less noisy than the previous ones. To get accurate temperatures noise is removed using a simple software filter. Accurate temperatures are necessary to relate any shift in the Echellogram to physical phenomena on the spectrograph table and for further tuning of the temperature stability.

To control the temperature in the building better various things are planned. Design and install active cooling for the front room to avoid temperature rise in warm periods, and improve FIES and building temperature-control loops, to make the excursions around the reference temperature smaller, and to avoid short oscillations (with period less than 2 hours). To monitor the effect of temperature variations an automated temperature-stability analysis tool will be made based on measuring shifts in the Echellogram.
