Cooling

-We, with the tech. service , tryed to install the active cooling control in the main cooling system. It was impossible since we needed some other programming which is not in site. We have askd to the diller for that solution and we still waiting for it. Now this mark got a new diller for spain and they have no idea about this procedure. Italy is our step now, were this machines are done. Still waiting.

-Cooling unit 2 got a problem after the active programming time, re-programmed needed due to an error in the program. Now works fine.

-Found and fix a problem in the main cooling system water line. The servo valve in for the FIES fan coil ,placed outside, got damaged and had to be replaced. Back to dry work.

-The new pasive cooling is almost ready, main parts have been installed, fan coil, pump, servo valve etc.. It has been filled and tested hydraulically. Now it´s only missing the wires installation to be in use. As first step, when we get the system connected, if we loose the power, this new system will be started and running on the generator so we can keep observing on our own.

Our efforts to modify the cooling system were complicated by the fact that the right kind of valve (a 3-way servo valve with differential thermostatic control and adjustable set point) we needed was not easy to get within the specifications we had. The design was modified, no longer using the cooling water for the cooling of the FIES building, but purchasing a separate (small) cooling unit for the FIES building. This removes that need for the 3-way valve, making the overall design simpler (and likely more reliable) while the overall cost is basically the same.

-FIES building got a new small heat pump for thermal problems solution in very hot sommer time. It was installed in the entrance room and the cryotiger was re-positioned just under the cooling inside radiator, far from the spectrograph room door.
