The NOT contributed to the discovery of the most distant quasar with radio jets
The NOT with its near-IR camera NOTCam contributed to the discovery of P172+18, a quasar
so distant that light from it has taken 13 billion years to reach us.
A team led by Eduardo Bañados and Chiara Mazzucchelli used the Magellan Telescope at
Las Campanas and ESO's VLT and a number of other telescopes, among them the NOT, to
investigate the quasar.
