Instrument : ALFOSC
Observing Mode: ANY IMA SPEC POL
Command Type: ANY DATA DET DISP INST TEL
Usage: BASIC GENERAL STAFF
Description: SHORT LONG

SystemCommandArgumentsDescriptionType
alfosc alfosc.exit [-d] Exits the ALFOSC BIAS program. DET
alfosc alfosc.remote-slitoff [slit=<slitno>|xref=<x> yref=<y>] xstar=<x> ystar=<y> [xbin=<xbinning> ybin=<ybinning> xbeg=<x window begin> ybeg=<y window begin>] Calculates the telescope offset required to bring a target onto a given slit and performs the required telescope offset. See the ALFOSC Sequencer Command and Script Reference for a full description. TEL
alfosc alfoscfocus [-d] [ready] [step] <n> Moves ALFOSC internal focus to step position <n>. [ready] Returns '0' if the element is moving, '1' if it is ready. [step] returns the step position [0-2700] of the ALFOSC internal focus. INST
alfosc autosave_off [-d] Turns off autosave. DATA
alfosc autosave_on [-d] Turns on autosave. DATA
alfosc edit-slitpos [ editor ]
-h
-test
Edit the slitpos.def file and make sure the values on it are sane. As an alternative, it can be used only in "test" mode to check the file, without launching the editor. INST
alfosc focus-auto <step-size> [<image>] Computes the best focus value from a focus sequence image <image> taken with the command focusexpose with focus step-size <step-size>. If no filename is given, the last obtained image name will be used. DATA
alfosc focusexpose [-d] <nnnn> <mm> <tt> Makes a focus exposure. <nnnnn> is the focus start value, <mm> is the step size and <tt> is the exposure time per sub-exposure. 7 sub-exposures will be made. DET
alfosc gainron [<file>] Computes detector gain and read-out-noise based on two bias frames and two flat fields, <file> being the last in the sequence. If no filename is given, the last obtained image name will be used. DATA
alfosc hgalign [-e] [exptime] Script for aligning ALFOSC optics. See ALFOSC staff pages for instructions. DET
alfosc hsalign [-e] [exptime] Script for aligning ALFOSC optics. See ALFOSC staff pages for instructions. DET
alfosc qc-script Takes beta-light bias frames and flat fields for ALFOSC quality control. Calculates gain and read-out-noise. DET
alfosc read_alfosc_setup The command instructs the ALFOSC instrument user interface (UIF) to re-read the setup information. The corresponds to pressing the "read setup" button in the UIF. INST
alfosc tiasgat Script for aligning ALFOSC optics. See ALFOSC staff pages for instructions. DATA
alfosc vgalign [-e] [exptime] Script for aligning ALFOSC optics. See ALFOSC staff pages for instructions. DET
alfosc vsalign [-e] [exptime] Script for aligning ALFOSC optics. See ALFOSC staff pages for instructions. DET

In scripts, the syntax alfosc.<command> should be used.
If a part of a command is written in <angle brackets>, this is an argument that should be replaced with a value.
If a part of a command is written in [square brackets], this is an optional argument or flag.
When available, the optional flag -d will write extended debugging information to the log.
When available, the optional flag -e will show the script on standard output instead of executing the commands.
When available, the optional flag -t will only make a simulated exposure. Useful for testing scripts.

Type definitions:
DATA: All commands related to handling/modifying data (editing fits-headers, post-processing etc.).
DET: Commands related to operations with the detector.
DISP: Commands related to displaying images on the instrument computer.
INST: Commands related to operations with the instrument.
TEL: Commands related to operations with the telescope.
