Spectroscopic follow-up of candidate counterparts to IceCube high-energy neutrinos
68-105 Anna Franckowiak
Summary:
With this program, we aim to obtain spectroscopic characterisation of candidate counterparts to IceCube events identified with the Zwicky Transient Facility, such as supernovae and tidal disruption events. Spectroscopy is instrumental to the discrimination of interesting sources as well as to their study at the time of the neutrino emission, potentially unveiling the physical processes originating these particles. Following the first associations of neutrino events with tidal disruption events (AT2019dsg, AT2019fdr), a new confirmed observation would provide compelling evidence for their contribution to the astrophysical neutrino flux.
