PI: Steafan Schuldt

This is a Monitoring program to do 35 min ALFOSC R-band imaging as often as possible.

Scheduled dates:

April: 1,2,3,4,5,7,11,12,13,14,15,16,20,23,27,30
May: 1,2,3,5,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,20,22,24,25,26,27,28,30,31

For the observer:

In order to schedule the target in Visplot, cut and paste the following line:

Go to the directory

  cd ~/scripts/73-503

and execute the script:

73-503 2026-04-01 00:43 Monitoring ZigZag ALJd010128 - ALJd010139 Observed in dusty conditions with full moon i.e., high sky illumination. On the first attempt two images were ruined due to the guide star being lost. Considering the bad conditions and extra time there was in the schedule I simply re-ran the script however the guiding was lost at two points again and two of the exposures were readout prematurely because of this. Please note the exposure times in the EON. The seeing was below 1.5 in the first set of images and slightly higher in most of the latter. Please inspect the images individually. Observed
73-503 2026-04-02 00:37 Monitoring ZigZag ALJd020099 - ALJd020104 Observed with good seeing but high air-dust-level. The first attempt was cancelled as the seeing was above 1.5". I tried again later and the seeing was below that. However the guide star, which I had to select manually was pushed out of the guide probe area by the dithering pattern so I restarted the script. Meaning the images are not according to the 3x3 dither pattern. Observed
73-503 2026-04-04 00:00 Monitoring None None Night lost due to humidity Failed
73-503 2026-04-05 00:00 Monitoring OB script interrupted due to high levels of humidity forcing the telescope to close. Failed
73-503 2026-04-07 00:38 Monitoring ZigZag ALJd070160 - ALJd070166 Observed with clear sky and seeing bit above 2" Observed
73-503 2026-04-11 00:29 Monitoring ZigZag ALJd110164 - ALJd110168 Observed under clear skies and seeing fluctuating between 1.2"-1.6". A cloud came in towards the end of the observation and telescope had to auto close due to high humidity. Most data should still be good, but please review. Observed
73-503 2026-04-12 00:38 Monitoring ZigZag ALJd120153 - ALJd120159 Bad seeing 2.0 or worse Observed
73-503 2026-04-13 00:35 Monitoring ZigZag ALJd130210 - ALJd130215 OK Observed
73-503 2026-04-14 00:00 Monitoring Seeing at field much higher than useful limit (4"). Observation skipped. Failed
73-503 2026-04-15 00:41 Monitoring ZigZag ALJd150137 - ALJd150143 Observed using the 'special script' with clear skies and good seeing 1.2-1.4. Observed

The above information is collected from the ToO/Mon reports that have been created by the observer.

Should any of the observations have been carried out using the OB system, you will find additional information HERE
